The counsellor reserves the right to:

  • Modify session structure or format
  • Refuse a location if deemed unsuitable for sessions

This may occur where:

  • There is a risk to the safety of the client, counsellor, or any animal

Where possible, alternative options or referrals will be provided.

Animal-Assisted Counselling Conditions

  • Animals are never forced to participate
  • Interaction is optional and guided by safety and consent
  • Animals may be removed from sessions at any time
  • Clients involving their own animals are responsible for their behaviour, welfare and risks.

There are inherent risks involved, which are outlined in the informed consent and waiver process.

Clients agree to:

  • Provide accurate and honest information
  • Complete all required documentation prior to sessions
  • Attend sessions in a safe and appropriate manner
  • Ensure privacy for online sessions

Clients accessing online sessions acknowledge:

  • Technology disruptions may occur
  • Privacy depends partly on the client’s environment
  • Telehealth may not be suitable for all situations

Only the minimum necessary information will be disclosed in such circumstances.

Animal Wisdom Program - Terms and Conditions

The Animal Wisdom Program is a structured 6-session personal development program inspired by the original Animal Wisdom framework developed by Meg Kirby of the Equine and Animal Assisted Psychotherapy Institute (EAAPI).

Sessions are facilitated by Pawsitive Directions and delivered as either a one-on-one counselling program or a small group personal development program of 4–6 participants.

Program Registration and Intake

Registration confirms your place in the program for the full 6-session series.

All participants must register and complete required intake documentation prior to the first session.

Entry mid-program is not permitted for either the individual or group format, as each session builds on the last and the integrity of the program and group connection depends on full participation from the beginning.

If you are unable to join the current intake, you are welcome to register for the next available program.

Program Fees and Payment

The Animal Wisdom Program is offered as a complete 6-session package.

Fees are confirmed at the time of registration and payment terms will be outlined in your registration documentation.

Group program fees are per person for the full program and are non-transferable to other participants.

Cancellations and Refunds

Individual sessions within the program cannot be refunded separately.

If you need to cancel your participation in the full program prior to commencement, please contact Pawsitive Directions as soon as possible at billing@pawsitivedirections.com.au and your request will be reviewed in line with the cancellation and refund policy and applicable consumer protections.

Once the program has commenced, refunds for partially completed programs are not available except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of Pawsitive Directions.

Where exceptional circumstances apply, any refund will be calculated based on the number of sessions not yet attended at the per-session equivalent rate.

Missed Sessions

If you miss a session within the group program, it cannot be made up individually or carried over.

Where possible and appropriate, a brief summary of key themes from the missed session may be provided to support your continued participation.

Repeated non-attendance may affect your ability to continue in the program at the discretion of the facilitator.

For one-on-one programs, missed sessions may be rescheduled in line with standard cancellation policy notice periods.

Animal, Nature, and Wildlife Involvement

Animal, wildlife, and nature involvement during program sessions is guided by welfare, safety, and ethical practice at all times.

Animals are never required to participate and are free to disengage at any time.

Where sessions involve your own animals, you remain responsible for their behaviour, welfare, and any associated risks.

The specific format of animal or nature involvement will be confirmed prior to each session and may vary depending on location and availability.

Group Program — Confidentiality and Respect

Group program participants agree to maintain the confidentiality of all other participants.

What is shared within the group remains within the group.

All participants are expected to engage with respect, compassion, and appropriate boundaries toward other group members, the facilitator, and any animals or wildlife present. Pawsitive Directions reserves the right to remove a participant from the group program if conduct is deemed harmful, disrespectful, or disruptive to the safety and integrity of the group.

Program Format and Delivery

Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes in length and may be delivered outdoors at selected locations or online where appropriate.

The delivery format for each session will be confirmed in advance.

Outdoor sessions are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be moved online at short notice where necessary. Participants will be notified as early as possible if a format change is required.

Acknowledgement

By registering for the Animal Wisdom Program, participants acknowledge that they have read and understood these terms, that the program is a personal development experience and not a substitute for individual counselling or mental health treatment, and that full participation from the first session is required.

If you have any questions about these terms prior to registering, please contact info@pawsitivedirections.com.au before completing your registration.
